- What is a Hazel initiator? Who can be an initiator?

Any school staff member with a valid school email address can be trained to initiate Hazel visits on behalf of a student. A nursing license is not required to perform the duties of the Hazel Initiator.

Your school district may choose to have licensed personnel such as a Nurse or Social Worker assume the initiator role and participate in the visit. In these cases, the initiator may also perform additional responsibilities as determined by the school district and agreed upon by the Hazel provider if permissible by applicable laws and regulations.
